A Fashion Catalogue

This article is about the things that no one ever tells you about jeans.

I’m gonna give you the tips that will change your whole attitude towards jeans. These tips will help you find the perfect pair if you don’t have a couple already, or help you find better ones.

Let’s jump right into the first tip.

  1. The body type

I keep telling you, knowing and understanding your body type will solve so many of the fashion and style problems you’re facing.

Did you know that not all body types can wear a higher rise pair of jeans? In other words, not everyone can look good in high-waist jeans. Even though this type of jeans looks absolutely gorgeous. Let me explain.

Have you ever put on a pair of pants that created a weird-looking kinda fat around your waistline? Many refer to it as a “muffin top”.

Well, if that has ever happened to you then please know this, there’s nothing wrong with your body, you just picked the wrong fit and type of jeans for your body shape.

For the inverted triangle, apple and rectangular body shapes, a lower rise would be perfect for you. While the rest like pear and hourglass would look great in a higher rise type of jeans.

This is full proof, tested and proven, take it to the bank.

  1. The zipper-crotch trick

Well this will be a bit awkward(for me) to talk about but we must, right?

So, always check the distance between the end of the zipper and the crotch. If the distance is too wide, more than an inch wide, then look for another pair.

Why? See, if there’s nothing happening around the crotch then a camel toe forms and every movement you make will be visible. It’s really not a good sight. (If you don’t know what a camel toe is then please google).

Make sure that the zipper either goes all the way down to the crotch area or have it end at least an inch near the crotch. If that’s not the case, simply don’t buy the pair and save yourself awkward attention.

  1. The color

The psychology of colour elucidates that darker colours make one look thinner and taller while bright colours do the opposite.

If you wanna look curvier, get brightly coloured jeans but if you wanna look thinner and taller then get plain black jeans.

If you’re getting wash jeans, make sure the washed-up part goes all the way to your feet. If it ends at your calves, your knees or your thighs then you will look shorter and not the good kinda short you that you probably want. Check the photos below.

Lastly, on the topic of colour, if you want a rounder and bigger looking bum the go for a pair that has been washed at the bum area(check the photo above). That will do the trick. Add to it the next point.

  1. The position of the pockets

This one is my favourite tip.

When buying a pair, make sure to check the position of the pockets. Different positions will manipulate the eye to see different things.

For example, if the pockets are spaced far apart then your bum will look bigger in a very saggy, weird way, as in the photo above. If the pockets are stitched too close to each other, your bum will look smaller in a squeezed, packed manner, even if the pants aren’t tight.

So, find the balance. They shouldn’t be too far apart, neither should they be too close to each other. They should also be smaller, a bit higher, close to the waistline and finally, the distance between the lower part of the pocket and the butt crease should short. Also, go for the pair that has angled pockets, not straight ones.

This will accentuate your waist, lift your bum, creating an illusion of a bigger, rounder bum. Never buy any type of pants, whether jeans or tights, that has the pockets sitting on the butt crease as in the first photo below, it’s not flattering at all. Always go for the second option. That’s literally the same person but you can clearly see the difference!!

  1. Care and launder

Never ever clean your jeans with warm or hot water. This destroys the elasticity and withing a short period of time, they’ll start sagging.

Wear them at least three times or more, depending on your activities, before cleaning them. If possible, just clean them by putting them in the freezer and letting them freeze for a minimum of 24hours.

This will help maintain their color. Your jeans will always look new.

Bonus tip – I’m sure many of us know this one. If you want to be sure that the waist will be a perfect fit, just button up the jeans, place the waist of the pants around your neck, if there’s an extra slack then be sure that they will be saggy. If it’s taut and fitting, then you have a perfect fit.

I hope you find the perfect jeans, perfect colour, fit and everything. I know this isn’t always easy especially for the plus and small sized people like me. But anything is possible so keep searching.

Thank you for spending time with me, I hope this helped. If you liked it, share with more people.

Until next time, God bless you.
